and the winner of the Tomato Taste-off is...

It's been a minute since we had time to sit down and write to you!

The days have been long and hot. The cucumber, squash and tomato plants have been pumping steadily, and we are scrambling to keep up!

Last week we hosted our CSA members for our first annual Tomato Taste-off!

We gathered together for a delicious potluck, sparkling conversation and a Battle Royale to determine which of the heirloom tomatoes we grew this year is the One Tomato to Rule Them All!

We filled out brackets (March Madness style) to predict the ultimate winner. Elimination was sudden death.

Brian and I had our brackets busted in round one - imagine our disbelief after eating them on a daily basis all summer!

The competition was fierce and the sampling was serious. Sometimes multiple samples were required in order to cast a vote - it was a hardship, but we endured. Nicki and Renee from Ten Eyck Brewing provided delicious craft beers to take the edge off of all that pressure.

In the end, Paul Robeson stood victorious over all the tomatoes in the Where Pigs Fly Farm realm.

Can he hold on to his title? We will find out next year!

You can find Paul Robeson and our other delicious heirloom tomatoes at the Wednesday evening Anne Arundel County Farmer's Market in Annapolis, at the corner of Riva Road and Truman parkway from 4-7pm.

We will not be at the Chestertown farmers market this week!

Cheers,

Jennifer & Brian
