The ORIGINAL Food Subscription Box
This week is National CSA Week: farmers across the country are promoting their CSA membership and encouraging food lovers to get behind a specific farmer for one season.
Here is how CSA works: a farmer offers a certain number of shares to the surrounding community. Typically the share consists of a box of vegetables, but some farms offer fruit, eggs, meat and poultry as well. You purchase a share and in return receive a box of freshly harvested produce each week throughout the growing season.
This is the ORIGINAL food subscription box!
Forget Hello Fresh and Blue Apron: your local CSA share is as fresh as you can get, plus it has a lower carbon footprint, keeps your money circulating in your local community and you know exactly who grew your food and how it was grown!
But CSA is more than food. It's an entire community built around eating healthy seasonal local produce. When you join our CSA we don't just deliver you vegetables. We provide the knowledge, support and inspiration to turn those vegetables into beautiful healthy meals, so you can truly cook with confidence!
Imagine your kids getting excited to eat what their farmer grew for them this week!
Imagine serving your family vegetables so fresh and delicious that your kids ACTUALLY WANT TO EAT THEM!
These aren’t your standard grocery store veggies! When you join our CSA, we promise to deliver you vegetable varieties selected especially for great flavor, harvested fresh just for you. Then we will teach you how to prep, store and cook those veggies for maximum deliciousness!
When you join our CSA farm community, you’ll learn a whole way of being — that will change how your kids (and you!) eat forever.

And you can’t get that at Safeway, Acme or Walmart!
CSA membership provides local farms with a bridge to resiliency.
Farmers selling directly to consumers retain the full value of the produce they are selling. This is important for preserving the small family farm model. Farmers selling produce in this manner aren’t forced to get bigger and bigger in order to sell enough produce at wholesale pricing to stay in business.
That means they can afford to grow food with more intensive organic methods, preserve some land for habitat, and maintain healthy biodiverse soil. Farming with these methods is better for the air you breath, the water you drink and swim in, and better for the planet we all call home.
But there is one more reason to support your local farmer, and this is the most important one!
Remember 2020, when the grocery stores started to look a little bit too post-apocolyptic…
…and the term supply chain became a regular part of our vocabulary? While the grocery stores struggled to get produce from far far away, your local farmers never missed a beat. We were still at your local farmer's market with high quality healthy produce for you to keep feeding your family. Your local farmers aren’t part of a large national ‘supply chain.’
This is the beauty of a direct relationship with a farmer and a hyper-local food system - it’s resilient during crisis. But it doesn’t exist in a vacuum! If you want your local farmers to be there when times are tough, you have to keep supporting them. Keeping local farmers in business guarantees that you will always have a resilient local food system.
We hope you will join our CSA this year! If the idea of a whole share seems intimidating to you, consider splitting a share with a friend or neighbor!
We offer payment plans - just choose "offline payment" at check out, then email Jennifer to let her know you want to set up a payment plan. As long as your share is paid in full by June 1st, you are good to go!
